Funerals / Memorial Services

Providing the ancient prayers for the dead is one of the great works of the church. We are so honored to be part of the Cloud of Witnesses who offer our thanks and praise for the lives of our loved ones. Through prayer, storytelling, scripture reading, and song the Church provides a space for grief and joy to be present in a safe and Holy Spirit filled environment. The story of our family is an important part of God’s story and we want to help you tell these stories.

At the time of the death of a loved one, contact Pastor Berg (day or night) who will be honored to come and offer prayers for the dead. He will also help you, at a time convenient for you and your family, plan for the funeral (when the body is present) or memorial (when the body is not present) service.

We are here for you.

Helpful information for planning a funeral/memorial service

The sanctuary is traditionally inspired. 18 pews on each side of a center aisle (36 pews total); accommodating approximately 335 worshipers.

Traditional pipe organ in the back, above the pews, and an upright piano in the choir loft.

Baby grand piano at the front of the sanctuary.

Small inner narthex directly off the sanctuary, and a large outer narthex leading from the front doors for greeting guests.

Large Fellowship Hall in the lower level, for large receptions.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be served or consumed any place in the Church.

We will work with the funeral home of your choice to coordinate all the aspects of a funeral or memorial worship service.

We will publish a bulletin (order of service) with pictures and obituary. If you are submitting information to be printed in the bulletin, please do so in WORD format.

We will provide altar (Flower set up, pall placement, Holy Communion setup) and usher services before, during, and immediately following the service.

Our Reception Coordinator will organize a reception in the church fellowship hall for large attendance or outer narthex for small attendance following the service. We will provide coffee, tea, water and punch as well as white paper products (napkins, cups, plasticware). You are asked to cater what ever food you desire to serve.
